Gallery

I finished up the remaining sculptures for the October show in Barrington; with little time to spare I'm told. All in all I have seven sculptures in this group show, I hope that will be enough, seeing as though I do not think I have any more lying around.

I made a small piece entitled "The Pearl of Her Sex"; it's interesting, small by my standards. I'm not really sure if my titles really mean anything, mostly because they are derived from the books I use in the pieces. Sometimes I try and relate the book to the sculpture, as I hope I did with "Pearl". I put a small mason jar on the bottom of the piece filled with black river rocks and a solitary white stone in the center. I think it works. I'll try and get a photo of it and have it up sometime soon.

That brings me to another point; I want to put up a section on this sight with some of my artistic endeavors, other than the cards. I do so much stuff that people never see, so I think it's time I put some up to get comments and such. I sort of miss the way I did things at the studio I used to have in Barrington, having people over to see work and get feedback. When I was at school I shared a studio with other students, so I would always get crits if I wanted them or not. I miss that.

So sooner or later I will have a section up with "art" and stuff. I hope people will enjoy looking at the stuff I make as much as i enjoy making it.

Oh.

I've been extremely uninspired lately. I have no clue why, I usually thrive on deadlines, but for some reason I'm just not feeling it. I still need to finish some sculpture stuff for the October show, but every time I start something it just doesn't work. Oh well.

Photos

I seem to be missing some photographs, or at least I've misplaced them. I'm trying to organize some of my stuff for upcoming crafty type shows and I think I'll be selling some of my more arty type photographs. I have no clue weather or not people will be interested in them, they all seem to be somewhat dark and moody. Oh well, I'll just have to look for everything over the weekend, after I finish some more sculptures.

Yes, back to the sculptures. I still need to finish some more. The show is going to be up October 2nd through the 30th with a reception on the 2nd till eight pm and another reception the next day till five. Fun may be had.

Fun with wood

So, it's the busy season over here in the land of the woodworker. I seem to have many projects going on and more coming in everyday. Not that I mind, it is something I'd most likely be doing anyway. The only problem I'm having would be the small matter of not having the right space to do wood working in, the garage seems to be a little full at this moment in time. Oh well, I'll just work around it.

I am taking part in a group show in October called "3D and THEE" at Gallery 219 in Barrington. By the title, it's all about sculpture, so I need to finish some more of my big sculpture things by mid month. I thought I had enough, but someone told me that if I sold the piece she wanted, she would never speak to me again. The offer is so tempting, but I think I'll bend to her will just this once. So far I have four pieces done for the show, all kind of big, mostly 96 inches tall. I'm thinking I need to make some smaller things, wood abstractions of some sort, to offset the big junk. That shouldn't be hard, seeing as though I found some cool pieces of wood recently that should do nicely.

Anyway, when the time comes, I'll be ready and inform everyone when the opening for the show is.

Godzilla on the weather channel

So, I'm watching the weather channel, and something is amiss. The sound is not matching up with people's lips. It's off by about a sentence, making it look like a really badly dubbed Godzilla movie. I'm half expecting someone to look up and yell "mothra!" it's kind of funny seeing as though the reporters are all talking about the Florida hurricane from beach locals.
