projects

I've been busy. I seem to get like this every once in a while. Work tends to pile up, paintings pile up, and projects pile up. I've had some cool ideas for furniture lately, mostly small things like chairs, end tables and room dividers, not that I need any of this stuff, I just like the ideas of how I want to make this stuff. One of the projects I've been thinking about is a rather useful thing, a new drawing table. I have one that my grandfather built; I like the design, clean and simple. I don't really need another, but I feel like making one none the less, maybe someone would like it down the road.

As for other projects, some stuff was put on the back burner for the last several months, most notably the wooden bike. I had to go back to design on it, I think my model and life size drawing may be flawed, I need to think about the size of the frame a bit more, the current design seems to be to short, more bmx like than the full size I'm looking for.

The cruiser bike is a rolling bike now, though I haven't taken it out much. I still need to do some tweaking with the paint, and find some new rims and other components, but it's ok as is.

I've been thinking that I should finish some paintings sometime soon, as I sold some at the diy trunk show and would like to replace them. I have a few ideas for new work, based on the style I've been working in lately, the stencil cuts. I think I will do some portraits, not of anyone in particular, just stuff from my sketchbook. Should be fun, look for those in March, when I can use spray paint again, after it warms up for real.

What?

Howdy. It's a dull day in the neighborhood. I haven't been in a writing mood of late, hence the lack of posts, lots of stuff that doesn't seem to be interesting happening, and stuff that I don't feel like sharing. It would happen to be my birthday again, so if your keeping score, you should know how old I am by now. Anyway, have a nice day.

meltdown

I recently had a bit of a meltdown with my computer, and subsequently lost lots of info. Most of the stuff that was lost I have backups for, notably all my card designs and most of my imagery. Some stuff is lost for good and I will have to rebuild somehow, mostly documents and other junk. I need to remember to do backups more often.

I only view this as a slight annoyance, it's not that hard to rebuild some stuff, it's mostly scans of imagery that I have in sketchbooks, and I'll just need to rescan a bunch of stuff. This will also give me the opportunity to rework some of the stuff that I'm not to happy about, cards that need some tooling with. For the next month or so I will be going through some of my older sketchbooks and pulling other designs out, just to build my library of images up a little, it should be fun.

The documents lost are slightly more important, as I had some stuff I was working on that I didn't have backups for, story ideas and such. Notably my "Bobby Typewriter" story was lost, but seeing as though I haven't worked on that for some time now, a fresh start might be a good thing.
