Sunday, May 30, 2004The ranger skateboard
For the last few weeks I've been working on a new skateboard, not your run of the mill skateboard, a five foot six board made from an old water ski. I found the ski and thought it would make an interesting skateboard, by the reaction of the neighborhood kids, I think I succeeded.
I'm working some more on this board because it has way to much give when you step on it. Water skis are made form planks of wood where as skate boards are made of plywood sheets making them stiff. I'm experimenting with different ways to stiffen up the deck a little, I cut a strip of plywood and it seems to stiffen up the board a bit. We'll see. I started the skateboard because I can't seem to find what I really wanted to work on this summer, a cruiser style bike. I've been looking for a cheap curve framed bike, but with no luck. I found a few that were "not for sale" at that bike place on western, Working Bikes Cooperative. I like the idea of the place, I hope someday the "not for sale" bikes will come up for sale. till then i'm keeping my eyes open for the perfect bike. As you can tell, I haven't been writing much of late. I have been working on more cards and art and haven't had much free time to write. I am going to make it a point to write something more often than twice a month, maybe not daily, but more than I have been. |
