A letter from Lockheed Aircraft Corporation to George A. Scheuer dated december 17, 1948.
Mr. George A. Scheuer Tribune South Bend, Indiana Dear George: When you flew in the Lockheed jet trainer last summer you became one of the first civilians ever to ride in a jet propelled airplane, anywhere. While your flight may not stand as a landmark in aviation, you may want to keep the enclosed plaque as a personal memento of the occasion and a reminder that you were one of the world's first jet passengers. It was a pleasure to have you join the Air Force and Lockheed for this demonstration program and we hope to see you often in the future. With best regards, John Guenther JG:ma TF-80 c, Monday Sept. 6, 1948 with Capt. Charles E. Yeager |
