Monday, June 28, 2010ZEV5100 and 6100
I've often thought about getting a scooter as a more efficient mode of transportation, as most of the time its just me going to where ever it is that I go. I've looked at all matter of scooters from gas-powered scooters like Vespas and the Honda Big Ruckus. I have yet to get anything, mostly because I've been waiting for something better to come along, something with an alternative power source.
I recently saw a write up for the ZEV5100 and 6100, electric scooters that look as utilitarian as can be, to be honest, they rather reminded me of the Ruckus. The ZEV5100's lithium battery can travel up to 70 miles on a single charge, and has a top speed of 50 mph, the 6100 has a range of 85 miles and a top speed of 58 mph, both are well suited for most local commuting. The 5100 is $5,991($5392 AFTER TAX CREDITS) and the 6100 is $7,526 ($6,774 AFTER TAX CREDITS) so both are at least doable, maybe a bit expensive but could be worth it for someone who wants to cut down there carbon footprint. I'll wait until I see some on the road and think about getting one, unless something else comes along. |
